    Hey Chris,

on the shows i do finishing for, i got about 5 presets for color correction, what i do is usually make the filter and then add it to my favorites folder, that way if i need it just peek in there and drop it on the clip. and you can make up to how many presets you want on there.

I think you might be interested in Conduit Live by dv garage. Last night at the FCPUG Supermeet @ Macworld They demoed it with a Blackmagic Intensity Card and a Canon HV20 and got an amazing key from the HDMI port feeding from the HV20 into the Intensity Pro.

Don’t know how you can output from there, but it looked great live!

  • We archived to DVDs using Toast 8 here until we got a file server and it actually worked quite well. Our features here are about 3-4 minutes each some longer some fewer. we drag all the media over and the FCP pointer, most fit on 1 disc. if it goes over, toast 8 uses disc spanning which works nicely. I highly recommend using it if you don’t have any hard drive option. we’ve had to reconnect some projects, and everything reconnected fine.

By any chance, do you have a ton of fonts installed? i made the mistake one time to install a CD of fonts (2000) and FCP took forever to open up, but eventually did. Try getting rid of the fonts that you dont need.

Why not just preview out of the camera? since your using firewire anyway to capture, just take the output of your camera and hook that to an NTSC monitor.

    Few things you can try:

    1. try zapping your P-RAM, (restart G5 and hold down APPLE+OPT+P+R) for 2 gongs, and then re-open FCP.

    2. Trash Preferences for FCP – use FCP Rescue

    3. Could your DSR-11 be in PAL mode? ive done this before.. make sure that your in NTSC if editing NTSC, PAL if editing PAL

    Hi there,

did you install anything recently? if you did, try uninstalling that particular item.

now if that doesnt work remove all “extra” cards, i.e RAID cards, capture cards, and put in a “base” amount of ram and try starting up that way. it could be that there’s a “bad” card and thats whats causing that kind of start up.

now if that doesnt work, have you tried swapping out cables, trying a different outlet?

if your not looking for a HDV deck, you might want to try the DSR-25. thats what im currently using and like it better than the DSR-11 because you can access the menu’s w/o the remote control.

take a look at the DSR-1500A or DSR-1800, they both have an option for SDI i/o, and im pretty sure that ext TC can be synced as well.
