Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy FCP Start Up

HEllo: I’m a relative rookie to FCP so I thought I’d post here first. I finally got around to installing the new updates to Studio 2.0 and everything seems to be working great. Except on startup. FCP now takes an inordinate amount of time to boot up. What happens is the after the initial start up, the interface comes up, but it’s all blank and the beachball just sits and spins for over 3 minutes, then “poof” it’s ready to go. This can’t be normal? Have I done something wrong in the update? Is there anything I can do to speed this process up?
    I’m running a Mac Pro, 2.4 – 4 gig mem – X1900 video card.
    Any thoughts would be appreciated

I have seen this in Leopard but a reinstall of leopard fixed it.

Oh, I guess I should have mentioned that I haven’t upgraded to Leopard.

By any chance, do you have a ton of fonts installed? i made the mistake one time to install a CD of fonts (2000) and FCP took forever to open up, but eventually did. Try getting rid of the fonts that you dont need.

    hmm… I wonder what this button does…
