Hi All,
I found the answer to my own question — great site with a lot of free “Getting Started” tutorials for lots of different software with lots more for purchase.
Great intro to various versions of Illustrator.

I might be interested in the Video Collection 2.5 — is that upgrade or full versions? What is in it (I am confused with all the different versions over the last couple of years).
Thanks,

I highly recommend the Intuos3 6×11 version. I just got it a few weeks ago and . . . best $325 I have spent in ages. This thing is sweet and this version is perfect for dual monitor displays (though you can use the regular sizes for this as well).
I had a Graphire 3 for a while but it never felt that “Pro” — this one is very worth the money (and it makes all of the other editors jealous 😉

Hi Eric,
If you are interested in Liquid 7, I have an unused version of Liquid 6 (legal) that you could upgrade to Liquid 7 for $199. I would sell it for $100 plus shipping and you would save $200 by the time you upgrade.
Let me know if you are interested.

I need to stay in the Avid environment — After Effects is unavailable for this. Anyone else?

Thanks for your reply Gary. However, I still seem to have some problems.
Here is my example:
V2 — Video of person talking
V1 — Graphic background LayerI cut out the person on V2 with Animatte — no problem.
Now say I want to do simple Sapphire blur on the face (V2) but I still want the V1 Graphic to be unaffected, how do I do this? I tried as you suggested :
V3 — Video of person talking with Sapphire Blur
V2 — Animatte layer of video person talking
V1 — Graphic background LayerIt is not doing what I want. When I try to use the mask parameter, the mask layer seems to INFLUENCE the blur, not not “limit” it to that layer.
Does this make sense?
Appreciate any help.
Thanks,

Dont forget “Studio” (used to be AV Video).
It has improved quite a bit with the name change, IMHO.

I here by dub you “king of all Avid knowledge”!
That is exactly what I was looking for. I have been editing for 10 years and on the Avid since 2001 (Xpress and MediaComposer and now Adrenaline) and never knew that one — in fact I dont think anyone knows that one! AFAIK it is not in the manual!
Thanks a lot!

Hi,
I don’t understand when you say:
Select the multiple scene transitions as you would do to apply multiple dissolves (shift-click, lasso). Double-cliek the effect you saved to the bin. Joy.
I have the custom transition effect and I can certainly drag it to a cut, but whenever I try to lasso a bunch of cuts, all I get is the indvidual clips being selected. Shift-Click doesn’t really do anything as well.
Just to clarify, I am trying to apply custom transitions BETWEEN multiple clips, not custom effects TO multiple clips.
Thanks,

February 1, 2006 at 7:04 pm in reply to: Shortcut to turn audio tracks on and off???Actually, I wanted the shortcut to enable a track audio (turn on the speaker icon) not select the tracks themselves. [Alt] plus the audio track shortcut seems to work.
Thanks,
