When I import media from the Sony NX 800 it seems like my audio configuration options change depending on – I’m not sure what – the channels that have audio? I want to be able to choose dialogue 1, 2, 3 or 4 but I only see that option sometimes.

I edit on a 2024, M4 chip mac mini, using Samsung T7 Touch SSD drives.

In order to take full advantage of the speed of the computer, I am thinking about

I use EditReady to convert the 4k .mp4 files from the card in my Sony FX30 to

ProRes but the converted files are gigantic and they seem to mess with Final Cut. Do you

know of a better way to convert?

My project is about an hour long. I am exporting an .mp4 file (H.264 Multi-pass). On each attempted export, a different gap is missing: about 2 minutes with no audio/video, just black.

I am stumped.

The .mov export is fine. I also tried exporting the .mp4 from the .mov instead of the project – same result.

Not only foreign, but any show on cable. I’m just thinking our clients

are not broadcasters, so it’s 2 different situations. Pretty sure the

broadcaster is using AI to generate the captions – they are not burned

into the foreign film or domestic TV show.

I might be working off of an incorrect assumption.

I was thinking my video is like cable TV – check the

closed captions box or uncheck it. But you are

right – “burned” is “burned”. I probably just need

to give the client the burned-in version.

I burned in closed captions with an SRT file.

Now I want to test the video to confirm users can

watch the video with or without the closed captions.

How to test? Can’t test on Vimeo or YouTube because

they generate their own closed captions.

I am setting 2 position values to make a clip move using Transform. The options are smooth or linear. Linear is supposed to go from the start value to the end value directly, with no ramp on either end – just a straight line. But instead, it only lessens the same ramp used by the “smooth” setting.

By “ramp” I mean it gets up to speed gradually…

I have to tell the After Effects designer how to export the lower thirds animation (RGB + Alpha?) so it has a transparent background, then I have to import it into FCPX, just like I would a .png with a transparent background.

I record multi-participant Zoom meetings for my clients using the record function in Zoom. It’s not reliable. So, I need a backup. Apps I have tried, like Quicktime, record the audio from my mic but not the internal audio, which is what I need. Do you know of a way to backup record the video and audio from a Zoom presentation?

If 3 photo files were created on sept 24, 2019, they import into a subfolder titled sept 24, 2019. So they are now ordered according to the date they were created, not the file name, which is numbered in the order I need.

Client sent me 100 photos, numbered. I need to import and drag them into the project in order. Instead, my default has them importing into separate sub-folders according to their metadata (?) by date. So, all over the place.

Is there a way for Final Cut to recognize the file names of the photos and put them in order so I don’t have to do it manually?

Once a month or so I discover projects are not saving normally. I don’t lose anything because the backups are saving properly, but the master project is not.
