I edit on a 2024, M4 chip mac mini, using Samsung T7 Touch SSD drives.

In order to take full advantage of the speed of the computer, I am thinking about

buying the CalDigit Thunderbolt 4 Pro Dock from the Apple Store. But then I would probably also want faster edit drives. Looking for suggestions.

    Hey David,

Back in the day for my Mac Mini M1 I added a OWC Thunderbolt 4 hub.
Works great with Samsung T7 and T9 SSD drives.

But you may consider Thunderbolt 5, which is being rolled out, and should hopefully be backward compatible (Do check before purchasing).

Most SSDs are pretty fast these days. They have a speed of more than 2000MB per second which is enough almost for any work you need. What is better than an SSD, is SSD RAID, a bunch of SSDs working together as one. You can check OWC, Sandisk, and Glyph for these raids.
