Unfortunately we do not own Color Finesse. The last folks to work on the project did. I really want to get Color. It looks quite powerful and much better than what is in FC now.

Many thanks for the hint. At this point I have color corrected all the clips so it will not work, but I have learned something new, and will certainly use this next time!

You’ve probably checked this already, but is the “Anamorphic” button checked in the Sequence settings? That will squish 4X3 material.

I did a test by re-setting the timecode at the start of the FC sequence to the same timecode as the start of the clip… exported directly to Compressor and it did the trick. The new clip now has the same timecode as the old clip. Thanks! I still wish I could simply do that same thing inside of Compressor. In some cases that would save numerous steps in FC.
Also, for some reason, the timecode conversion was not frame accurate coming out of Compressor. Not sure if that had to do with 60fps HD material going to 29.97 DV.

Janelle,
We are about to purchase DVCPro HD gear and new Macs. I am trying to find out if the set-up you mentioned in an your old posts will work. We plan on buying a new Mac Pro with four 1TB 7200rpm drives and a Mac Pro RAID card. We hope this will provide enough throughput for DVCPro HD. Has your system worked for you? Apple has confused the issue by now offering 320 gig drives at 15,000RPM on their new systems. Do you have any advise on what to purchase and how to set it up? Were you able to solve your dropped frames issue?
Does anyone else have any input?
Thanks, and contact me directly at david.gerberding@dgs.ca.gov

July 31, 2007 at 7:57 pm in reply to: Commercial Music Usage Background Information PleaseI’m interested in this needle-drop clearance route. Are we talking hundreds, or thousands of dollars per song for 50 disk copies? Is there a one-stop shop for this, or a number of places? Thanks.
Dave

July 31, 2007 at 12:42 am in reply to: Commercial Music Usage Background Information PleaseThanks for the suggestion.
To clarify: We own a good music library, and the client was informed of the possible legal issues, but told us “we’ve done this for years, and the developmentally disabled kids really need current songs with lyrics that they relate to them”. I understand their argument on an emotional level, but completely disagree on a legal level. We will be sending out 50 or 60 copies of this after a group presentation. Unfortunately, I am not in a position to have made the call, but I did make my position very clear before-the-fact. I probably should have put it in writing as well!

July 30, 2007 at 11:50 pm in reply to: Commercial Music Usage Background Information PleaseMany thanks for this link. It answers many of the questions I had. It (and other sources) is still a bit vague on a few fair use issues, but all in all very helpful.

Thanks Scott. I downloaded the raw ae file again today and it worked fine. I have not converted it to NTSC yet…, nor the frames per second…that may be what broke everything yesterday! Any advise for how to do that properly?
Maybe I should create a new NTSC comp, drop the “reflections” into it and render from there. Sound good?

I have the AE project called itunes_browser. For someone who doesn’t know expressions, can anyone explain how to control the movement of the “albums”? I’ve tried the slider, with no luck.
