I’ve been trying to work on something similar to this.

Tried yikesmikes approach but am confused by which property of each layer to parent to what . Also, should the null and the object be a 3d layer?

No firm info yet. I thought I heard Brian Maffitt mention it in one of the AE Total Training disks, but I havn’t been able to find the spot yet.

The other way to fix the issue if you have very few real-time effects on your timeline, is to make sure the “Full” or dark green line is checked in your “Sequence/Render Selection” or “Sequence Render All” drop down menu. Then go ahead and render the few effects. This will turn the line above the effects blue and you’ll be able to get a clean AVI file.
