I have a black magic card on order so I can import the company’s legacy footage off of betacam and other formats.

If I decided to export back to tape (out of a 1080i project) would Premiere automatically do a down convert or will that be dependent on the capabilities of the black magic card

    thanks

I can’t really help you. I have not succeeded in getting Premiere P2 files to import to Avid, so right now I am exporting the file using the Avid 1x1x codec.

The file export and import are very long compared to native P2. I have a call into Avid and if they ever answer I will let you know

I don’t if you are using MXF, for my DVCPRODHD projects are use the avid 1×1 codec – results in about a 2 to 1 import time.

Currently my footage is P2 480i but about to switch to 1080i. Someone just sent me a whole whack of Avid codecs the have added a lot of options to the quicktime video settings…I am just trying to find the one that is right for Ad reline set to 601

Thanks again, I read the manual on channel mapping but did not pick up on that. You saved me hours of keystrokes.

Do you know if there is a way to select multiple audio tracks for trimming?

Thanks, but I think it is my bad and not Avid, because the P2 export does not play in the camera – the thumbnail is there, the time code bar below reads 00:00:00:00 and there is a little purple box with a “E” – which I assume means error.

But, I can re-import the sequence from the camera back into Premiere.

My project settings is DVCPR50, my rendering is set to DVCPRO50, the master track for audio is set to stereo.

I am going to keep playing. But I would be interested in knowing what export settings you would use when sending out a sequence to avid for further editing.

You made tha easy! Thank you so much.

Would you know if I could get a pcmcia card installed on my system that could read P2 cards, so I could import footage without having to tie up the camera?
