Interactivity can be built in Director, Flash, any HTML editor, and DVD authoring applications like Encore, Apple’s DVDSP, or even Toast.
Your delivery media, need for sophistication, and the level of interactivity determine your workflow and the host application.

You’re scaling 3k images down to about 1k so two out of every 3 pixels is being thrown away or smooshed. Sometimes they end up existing only one of every two frames (or one of every 2 fields).
You’ll need to apply about 2 pixels of vertical blur. Like anti-aliasing, the illusion of clarity is enhanced by making the image less distinct.

In the online help system, search for WIGGLE. You will get two versions, one is an animation assistant kind of thing and the other is an expression. You can use either to make lights flicker. There are other ways including putting an object in front of the light and moving it around using Wiggle.

Yes.
Vector art can be animated in After Effects. But as soon as you apply a filter, it must be rasterized.I’ve never heard of jawset, is it an AE plug? Maybe you should ask the publisher of the system what the best way is to import data.

You won’t be doing it in After Effects. You can create the video but there are no programming functions in AE. Where did you get the idea there were?
We see this question often enough that I wonder if folks think there should be editable code in AE or if they’re just in the wrong forum.

I’ve never encountered the squish when exporting an image sequence as a movie from QT Pro.
I’d start by batching all of your portraits in Photoshop to create new jpgs against a black background at your specific video sequence resolution/size.
You can do the image sequence movie out of QT and then just time stretch it to 300%. that will give you 3 frames of each single frame.

When we give files to broadcast stations, we talk to the men and women who run the on air playback systems and get their specifications.
For instance, we have supplied Beta tapes to one station but they had to do three separate transcoding operations to get it on the air—looked awful. So now we give those folks a DVD-ROM with the raw Quicktime (often DV but sometimes Animation codec) and they copy the file into their air system where it only gets processed once.bogiesan

In the olden days, I would have suggested to you “paste the layer in its entirety and then use the replace footage function to replace the media on the layer.” But that was before we had Todd to show us both there’s a better way.
