“soft” final output problem
I have a client who complains that his commercials look “soft” or compressed. They look fine on my system so I think the stations are messing it up. What kind of files do you guys send to stations? We upload files to an FTP site for the stations to download. And we export a quicktime H.264 out of after effects at the highest settings. Is there a cleaner way to export the files without doing uncompressed? Thanks. (also, is there a better forum to put this question?)

When we give files to broadcast stations, we talk to the men and women who run the on air playback systems and get their specifications.
For instance, we have supplied Beta tapes to one station but they had to do three separate transcoding operations to get it on the air—looked awful. So now we give those folks a DVD-ROM with the raw Quicktime (often DV but sometimes Animation codec) and they copy the file into their air system where it only gets processed once.bogiesan
