[Bruce Coxon] “Open the audio in Soundtrack Pro. Apply effect Dynamics>Enveloper and try the Roomkiller preset. You can then adjust the release time and it’s negative gain to taste. If this doesn’t do it for you apply another iteration of the same effect”
Cool, thanks for the contribution, Bruce. This topic has come up often on FCP forums, I don’t recall this particular suggestion ever being offered.
Lisa, please let us know if this worked for you. It will make a significant addition to the base of searchable solutions to difficult problems.

And if you’re the adventurous type, you can make the trail of the mortar or rocket by animating the producer along a path and letting sparks fall to the ground, sort of.
And if you know how to Particle World, you can actually move the producer around in 3D space and program a delay on the burst of particles and, of course, you have a wider selection of particle types including custom.bogiesan

Brian, cool link, thanks for digging that one up.
I use CC Particles often. To get a more realistic (yet stylized) firework burst, you may want to work in a 60 fps comp so you can add some forced motion blur, time remapping , echo, or Time Blend FX to give the trails some persistence. Sixty or more frames will give you lots of flexibility with prerendered movies.
How much effort you put into this is up to you but creating one movie that gives you a central burst and trails of one color and anther that gives you a secondary burst of peripheral shells can really add some class. Subsequent aerial shells will illuminate residual smoke left by previous explosions.
Also, try to find some real firework clips so you have an accurate model to chase. Good luck and maybe you could tell us how yo made out.

[Dan Nichols] “did you even read my post? “
Apparently not. That happens around here. Probably will happen to you, too.
Ever so glad you got accurate assistance, though.

You might talk to the launchpad developers but I’m having trouble seeing a practical application with AE. Easier to build a set of Favorites or Presets. Presets can even contain entire sequences of filters and keyframes.

Path Text is an obsolete effect these days. But it’s still there, just use the search field in the effects window.
Also, you can find text on a path suggestions in the online manual.

If you are going to be using Motion at all, you want the 4870.
Nothing else to consider.bogiesan

Always great to see you online, Jens, helping us get the most out of CC and legacy FE/SE filters.
That was, however, one of the weirder things I’ve ever seen you post!bogiesan

Never seen those.
You need waves in 3D?
Psunami.
2D emulation? Wave World.bogiesan

Just a quick glance, the rollover effect is what you’re asking about? Looked like simple 2 or 3 frame burst of stills to me. You could do it with Scatter. But don’t forget to at least look at CC Hair, among the less understood and underused filters ever made for AE, second only perhaps to Ye Olde Compound Arithmetic.
