aligning text to mask/path head scratcher in CS4
i recently upgraded to CS4 from CS3, and i tried to place text along an eliptical path…simple enough, right. so i made the mask inside the text layer, went under path options in the text twirl down and selected the mask, unfortunately AE put the text in the MIDDLE of the elipse and squished the font along the x axis–it did not put the text resting ON the path, which it’s supposed to do, right? basically After Effects did not marry the text to the path…very strange…is there anyone that might be able to help me with this? greatly appreciated!

Path Text is an obsolete effect these days. But it’s still there, just use the search field in the effects window.
Also, you can find text on a path suggestions in the online manual.

Turn on Reverse Path.

i figured it out–it ended up being the baseline shift in the character palette of all things–isn’t it always something stupid like that…once again AE makes me look like a jacka## 🙂

for some reason the baseline shift was set to 87 in the character pallette window–not sure why, but i set that back to 0 and that was it! thanks for your help!

AE is doing a very strange thing WHEN i align text to a path. I was just looking for a possible explanation as to why? -
