Stephen, I, of course, bow to your superior Motion-savvy. I was trying to figure this out by suggesting creating a sequence of stills of stickies (created elsewhere) and finding a way to use random frames form that image sequence as the particle source.
I can even imagine building a composition (using After Effects) that would more or less plop random words or nonsense into the frames of a sequence that could be handed off to the input for the sticky note particle source.

Pretty advanced stuff.
Look in the Content folder’s Flora folder.
Drop any of the animated doodads into a project and start dissecting the elements. You will quickly see that particles and replicators are used extensively and with esoteric behavior settings. To go from organic to creepy, you need to master the ramps used to control replicators.If you scan the After Effects tutorials, you will find a few helpful suggestions but AE uses a slightly different approach so you will need to adapt the techniques.

Before you go trashing your prefs and running Disk Warrior, you can do some simple debugging. It would help us tremendously to know what your formats are.
This type of issue comes up when media is improperly captured. I’d make your media offline and first try relinking. If that doesn’t work, I’d try making it offline, sending it to the trash, and recapturing.

Knowing how to record audio is a high level skill that is not part of the currently popular "I got a HD camera, I got FCP, now I'm a filmmaker!" production model. Audio recording is one of those things newbies either are taught or they learn really quickly on their own. bogiesan

Possibly unnecessary contribution to the thread: Anything that requires FCP to render media will strip off any information encoded or modulated in Line 21 which is where most closed captioning systems stash analog data.
