Most of us have been registering our complaints about and suggestions for FCP for many years. There is the feedback section of apple.com where you can drop your suggestions.
The problem with all of these discussions is that we don’t know (or, to be blunt, I cannot even freakin’ IMAGINE) how or why Apple’s FCS team makes their decisions. Some has to be legacy code that simply cannot be rewritten. Some must lie in management decisions that simply do not consider we the users. But these threads always help me understand one thing: many requests and demands are too narrowly focused; one guy’s absolute must-haves are another’s nonsensical wastes of resources.I didn’t want any more features in FCP7, not a single one. I did not’ want anything new in Motion, least of all lights and shadows, and I don’t care what happens to DVDSP, Color, Cinema Tools, or STP. All I wanted was everything that was broken to get fixed and every broken promise to be finally met.
Still we buy, we install, we kvetch.

Precomp the paper. Make a copy of the layer and offset is one pixel. One lyaer will contain your document, the other will be plain.
There are many other ways of doing this but this is direct and flexibly editable.

[Kevin Depth] “Can it be done with just the background or with a still picture in AE,”
Well, sure.
But you have to place the objects relative to each other so the camera and lens moves accomplish something interesting. IN the case of a still image, you usually need to pull something out of the still or, much easier, use an element from a similar image that is placed in the foreground so it moves as the parallax changes.bogiesan

I stand by my statements: DVD is safer, it’s not better. Burn the DVD first. Have some alternative files ready if you know what you’re doing and have time to play around. If there’s money riding on this, figure out how to get access to the projector now.
I can use digital cinema desktop playback to a projector simply connected to my display card. Looks freakin’ great at the native playback. Mostly. Sometimes it’s glitchy. The raw playback, even if it’s DV, always looks better than the DVDs I burn. Shoot, VHS looks better than most of my DVDs. My old SoundStix deliver fabulous audio alongside the projected image.

If you figure this out, please go back and close the identical threads you have posted in other FCP forums.

[Jason Brown] “Yea, I got that…but when you turn the visible icon back on…Render is gone?”
I remember the first time I experienced that warning dialog. I was SHOCKED that a sophisticated tool like FCP was too stupid to remember render files. It’s an interesting argument we’ve been having about FCP for many years. Walter’s logic is sound but it still doesn’t let Apple off the hook. The fact that FCP forgets renders IIRC seems to be based on its legacy media management code, code that does not allow for what many of us regard as fundamental media intelligence. It is apparently the same underlying programming issue that has plagued Media Manager from the very beginning. Stuff just gets lost so it’s easier for FCP to deliberately forget it.
Turning a track on and off should require nothing more than a quick file inventory scan and comparison. Media 100 had no trouble remembering which renders needed to be changed and which did not. I’ve never used Avid and it’s been years since I opened Premiere but I’ve heard this is simply not an issue on either because of how the media files are tracked in the applications.
Since we’ve been screaming about this for many years, it either cannot be fixed or FCP’s team has decided it’s not necessary to fix.

The DVD will be safer, not better. The MPEG2 will not be as lush but it’s a bombproof display. Do the DVD first, then experiment.
If you don’t have a chance to spend a few hours on the system before you get to the venue, make several different versions of your movie using Compressor and just use the one that looks best. You should be able to test five or six in a few minutes.
You haven’t mentioned how your audio will be delivered. Be sure you have time to test the speaker connection and set the volume BEFORE you push play for the audience.

Assuming you’ve followed the instructions, I have no clue. But I rarely remember to set crop marks in the original AI file myself.

Didn’t know there was a limit. Might be 256.
I’ve never tried to use more than about 100 in AE6.bogiesan

I love Wiki for this kind of stuff:
The effect was first developed by Irmin Roberts, a Paramount second-unit cameraman, and was famously used by Alfred Hitchcock in his film Vertigo.
