Not stated in the original post: Where are you viewing your output? DV is weird. It looks very good in video, on an interlaced display; a television set or video monitor. DV looks terrible on a computer display.

If the two events are indeed linked, and there’s no way to tell from here, you may have destroyed your second drive with a malevolent self-executing file. Do you know where you got the disk and do you trust the source?

Norton should remount the drive. but you should NEVER allow Norton to repair anything. You say you r0na Norton but you can’t run it on the drive if the drive doesn’t mount. You’ll need to explain that. Try starting from the installation disks for Tiger/Panther and run Disk Utility. You can run DU from the applications/utility folder since your second drive isn’t the system drive but it’s generally safer to run it form the installer. Look for the Utilities menu item after you start form the disk.

INteresting. I’ve just lost my dock animations but there’s no such file on my system.
    I’m still looking.

There’s a great filter in Motion. It applied sparkles to highlights. sue it carefully and wisely. Takes forever to render, too. filters>Glow>dazzle.

    Bogi. 01:01: RTFM.

The minimum drive requirements and platter configuration are clearly explained in The Good Book that came with your copy of FCP.

  • IIRC (but CouldBeWrong), Print To Video has always required the creation of a completely new media file that includes the lead-in heads, slate, countdown, program content, and tails. That’s why most of us simply roll the recorder and then hit play on the timeline.

I haven’t bothered with Print To Tape since Apple broke the FW timecode functions for the lower-end DSR-11, those rat bastards.

  • I don’t use one myself, sorry, can’t suggest one, but MacAddict and MacWorld have reviews and extensive lists of recommendations of such tools.

Please come back someday and tell us which one you ended up buying or using.

I always like to ask the question:
“why did you buy Disk Warrior?”:

    and

“What other disk maintenance tools do you have and use?”
