However, My DVD could be proprietary, never heard of it.
Do you have Flip4Mac or VLC or Windows Media Player for Macintosh? Might open up them files.

Ditto, trial and error. Take notes and use a filenaming scheme that allows you to understand what you did.
Major user tip: Set watermarks or render text over your test clips that explain the settings you used. This is the ONLY WAY you can make side by side comparisons of the different settings.bogiesan

You could start by telling us what you’ve already tried. The first stop would be … MTV. Their specs are either readily available or their technical contacts are far enough down the line that you can’t get them till they want you to have them.

There’s an easy hack that changes the script that determines what graphics card to look for. Sorry, can’t recallt he details but you can google “AGP hack.” Takes a bit of searching through the hits. You only need to change one line of code in the package.plist contents.
If you’d rather not do that, I THINK there’s an uninstaller on most Apple apps. Dunno if FCP came with that option.

What level of accuracy or timeliness in the simulation does he require? Tickertape is an ancient form of information delivery that was replaced with character generators in the 60s. Shoot right off the screen of one of the financial channels. If you can’t use the image itself, you should be able to mimic the technique easily enough.
WAR STORY: The first time I had to do this, the client wanted to simulate the “chasing lights” style of stock readout. It took us several days in After Effects to get an acceptable simulation of lightbulbs that turn on and off . We wasted many hours simply moving LED-style letterforms under a grid of holes. Problem was that you could see the letters moving under the holes so there was no illusion of lights going on and off. We ended up using a Threshold filter.
The last time I did this we used FEC Ball Action to great effect.Point is, this could be tremendously complicated.

If I’m reading the post correctly, you’re seeing a few pixels of the foreground image bleeding in around the edge of the matte?
You might try applying a bit of Matte Choker to the matte image but that might do something the Travel Matte blending function since effects are processed before blends. But I never use travel mattes, I always set up straight alpha or luma keying in a nested sequence.

Welcome to the family, you’re going to hate FCP. All Avid guys and girls do. For a while.
Your best bet is to invest in one or both of the books targeted especially at Avid switchers. See the amazon.com link here at the cow via the Dairy Store.
We used to get Avid switchers weekly. Traffic has dropped off but you can still search the forum archives for posts from hundreds of frustrated Avid users.
You can struggle with FCP for weeks and post your questions here or you can get the books.

After Effects Card Dance is a no brainer for this effect.
Strongly urge you to locate a local AE expert and hire it done. Far easier and cheaper than trying to kluge Motion into doing it although Patrick Shefflield, over on apple.com/Motion, has accomplished the deed.bogiesan

Media Manager is just about worthless. "Chaos" is the usual result.
