Looping is further complicated by knowing that, if you have 60 frames in the loop, frame 1 has to look like it is frame 60, not 59. Otherwise you get two copies of frame 59.

Haven’t tried this in many years but we had great success on a 16mm film shoot back in the olden days. We sprayed the elements we needed to pull for mattes with fluorescent clear paint. It was specially formulated to be invisible until blacklight hit it and then it popped. We used special glass ultraviolet light-pass filters over stadium spotlights, Super-Troupers.
You might be able to use a a retro-reflective tape to replace the headphone cords and a ring-light on your lens to pull a really hard image.

Most of the footage will not be used so look carefully at your junk takes and extract (with the blade tool) only the few seconds you are likely to use. Lock that track so it doesn’t move in time and turn it off. Basically forget it till you really need the image.
Editing music videos is n o different from editing any other fast-paced job. You need to do most of the work to tell your story, use the images that reflect your goal. Then go back and rip into it.
Save your work!
Each edited sequence should be evaluated carefully, name them or number them clearly. Then make duplicates of them, rename the copies, and start tweaking.bogiesan

Start with Motion Blur on a short clip. Try to take notes, the interactions between the subtle settings can be impossible to recreate.
Which drug, specifically. Window Pane acid tends to include vibrant color fringes to the trails while peyote sort of goes all bendy. Mescaline and mushrooms leave shorter trails with that ever-so-entertianing sparkly afterburn. Mixing or augmenting substances can personalize the experience tremendously. A bit of Boones Farm or Panama Red may dull the visual coloration while enhancing the auditory hallucinations.

< This suggests you are doing something terribly cruel to your drives. Drives do not generally fail. Eventually, yes, they will fail, they're just mechanical devices. But your experience is unusual to the point of being outrageous. You're either mistreating them deliberately or you've got an environment that mistreats drives. The drives in servers are not necessarily any better than your drives. A server can be set up with redundant power supplies, auotswapping and other expensive features.
