    Hi,
I have been using after effects for a long time now, and I feel like I am pretty good. I can accomplish most anything a client throws at me. But I have gotten to that point, where now I know the science but I want to know more about the art. I love AE. Everywhere I look, I only find courses on “how to use AE”. I am wondering, are there any “creative courses” in AE. You for people who know what they are doing, but sick of seeing/doing the same stuff. I want more! MORE I say! 🙂 So if you have any advice on classes where they talk to you about what else can be done, teach advanced design, or offer ways to stretch yourself creatively, I would greatly appreciate it.

Btw, I am in the DC area. So if we can’t find a class. Maybe we can meet up at a bar or something and talk about what all we do, exchange some DVD’s with some various projects on it, and atleast see what cool stuff everyone else is doing.

You could search the COW archives for the word “inspiration”, and go to the motionographer website for more.

But sorry, can’t help on the course front.

Angie Taylor’s book is about the best fun you can have. Her point of view on things is so weird that you will assimilate new ways of looking at your projects.

Trish and Chris Meyer have a new book (soon to be two) called the AE Apprentice that describes the processes of creating this stuff. Also see the new AE @ Work book.

Trish and Chris After Effects in Production also has extensive “how we came up with this” discussion.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”
