can anyone clear this up? i have a mac pro 10.4.8 (not in
front of the box now but the fcp version is just under a
year old). the system is samba networked with a pc running
xp home. the pc writes very long filenames to the mac’s
shared drives just fine. when i try to save a file with
a very long name from fcp it truncates with something like
#1234 in the filename. haven’t tried saving from any other
apps on the mac yet ast this is a dedicated fcp station.

can this be fixed or is it something i have to work around?

    thanks,
    BabaG

Try looking up filenames in the Mac OS help. Try posting on a the Mac OS forum.
Try using filenames with less than 32 characters.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

the implication here being it’s not a fcp issue?
