I am having a heck of a time trying to composite a simple text animation onto footage of a hand hold a cell phone. we shot it here and had the person hold the phone as still as she possible could but there is enough of a movement of her hand to make the compositing look-obvious. part of this is from the fact that it is a close up shot. i’ve tried motion tracking but no.

beyond reshooting does any one have any suggestions as to how i could make this work?

Have you tried stabilizing the shot in AE?
Have you tried tracking by corner pin?

    how about a freeze frame…

too fake…? how about a freeze frame of the phone, cut out in photoshop. comp that with the text, the comp that over a background shot with some movement… you could even add some movement back onto the phone-with-text comp.

add the text, then parent both layers to a null and add some camera shake to the null….not too much, but it could help sell the shot.

    > part of this is from the fact that it is a close up shot. i’ve tried motion tracking but no.< I don't understand this statement. Stabilizing and motion tracking are so incredibly locked in AE7+ that I have to ask if you used them correctly. bogiesan This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

it’s entirely possible that i did use the motion trackings stabilization tools incorrectly. although i was following what was in the help app i have never used motion tracker before and i was kinda plowing thru it.

you say that it is pretty precise? what would be the quintessential usage for the motion tracker/stabilization tool?
