No idea at all what you are trying to accomplish. Trails and tails can be created with any number of particle or time effects.

    > I’m hoping that it’s “simple/stupid” enough to pass on to someone else and not have any loss of quality. Otherwise, I’m going to have to do it all in addition to my other work, and that’s not going to be good!
< Show your coworkers how to animate it themselves. ONce you've created the ball and the general motion, you do not need to provide any further input if your people have any basic skills and you trust them. bogiesan This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

July 11, 2007 at 5:53 pm in reply to: avi with an alpha version

Combining the two clips is not a keying function. A keyer will not see the alpha. Try looking up Track Matte.

But so much depends on the quality of the AVI and the codec used to create the alpha. IN formation you have not supplied. The source of these files should also be consutled. if they are from a clip house like ArtBeats, the procedures for matting the the two versions is included with their disks.

Dreamweaver shouldn’t care anything about the file.

But you didn’t tell us what WMV encoder you are using, Flip4Mac?

Forget QT and forget WMV. Your best bet, honestly, is to encourage your client to use Flash video as their media. Everyone has a Flash player.

[NutsyUK] I”m looking for a controled point A [left] to point B [right] perspective distortion plugin with central focal shift and apature settings for each point.”

Glad you found something as simple as Corner Point.

I read your thread several times and I still have no idea what the visual effect youre’ trying to accomplish. I don’t know how you would use an “apature” as a control on such an effect. You might mean “aperture” but that would imply depth of field control is on your list of distortions. Is this a lens-like effect? Like looking through a piece of glass or a lens?

Look into Compound Effects like Compound Blur. If you can create a grayscale image that has a and b points you can control the amount of blur and distortion it imposes on underlying layers.

An Adobe rep had the yarbles to show up and couldn’t bother to offer you a version you can use? That’s not a prize, that’s a recyclable container.

Call Adobe and ask nice. If it’s not been opened yet, what have you got to lose?

Timewarp does that pretty well. Vector analysis of the pixel locations. Very long render times. What about timewarp didn’t you like?

Try to record it and then deconstruct it. You’ll see fairly simple moving layers with basic transitions. The elegance lies in the finesse with which the designers added effects without calling much attention to them. It looks so good because it’s so simple. Er, “simple” in terms of elegance. There’s nothing easy about the opening sequence.

Google quickly returned lots of interesting hits including the station of origin and production company. Might be somebody there you can talk to.

July 9, 2007 at 1:45 pm in reply to: turn a still image into a fireball

My brain sees something different than yours when you say fireball. Do you need the “ball” part of fireball or just the fire part? Do you require smoke and an explosion with a shockwave?

Pyrotechnics and immolation are not difficult in AE but satisfying your need for realism or stylization is challenging.

Drop by theanvel.com and look for his free AE projects for pyrotechnics and arson. Great places to start.

Google time effects for After Effects.
Or try https://www.pluginz.com/category/17?from=rlist&genre=16&type=2&subcategory=22 for a list of time-specific plugins for After Effects. Expensive.

Precision is easy with the time effects that come with AE but “precise interpolation” is a term you will need to explain.
