Im still in 6.5 and cs2

But when i say perspective i dont simply mean a rotating card… Im trying to make laser beam effects. I have my laser beam texture all ready but I want to setup a point to point left to right sort of control on the layer with apature settings for each point so thick at point A and thin at point B. I have tyred it with the mesh distort but its fiddly and I have ALOT of lasers to do.

No its not.

I need a distortion tool like mesh warp. But without the mesh or handles. point to point like beam but only distorting. With the ability to set the apature at each end and focal shift.

I dont want to use the beam tool as the effect is too simple the quality is crap. I already have a beam effect texture made. Its perfect the producers have already locked it down. I need some thing that can manipulate this layer thats all…

I was going to suggest you look at Distort>Corner Pin, but if you’re getting this involved with it you might want to just bite the bullet and make it 3D with DOF.

If you can’t find any 3rd party plugs to do this the alternative would be setting up one hell of a complicated Animation Preset using Nulls, Corner Pin and Lens Blur… at which point you’ll probably hate yourself for not just doing it in 3D to begin with.

Glad you found something as simple as Corner Point.

I read your thread several times and I still have no idea what the visual effect youre’ trying to accomplish. I don’t know how you would use an “apature” as a control on such an effect. You might mean “aperture” but that would imply depth of field control is on your list of distortions. Is this a lens-like effect? Like looking through a piece of glass or a lens?

Look into Compound Effects like Compound Blur. If you can create a grayscale image that has a and b points you can control the amount of blur and distortion it imposes on underlying layers.

Actualy thinking about it… The AE Beam generator is really close to what i want.

I want a distortion plugin that uses the same controls. But instead of using a simple beam its using a detailed beam sequince that i have made.

Does anyone know of a pluging like this?

I did end up trying that 4 corner one but its still a pain in the arse :/ as some of the shots are really tight one end being a pixel or two in size.
