timewarp
Posted by Amopix on July 9, 2007 at 1:35 pmHello,
I am making some tests for a project in the one I want to use time remapping and time warping. I use Timewarp a new filter in AE7.0 but are there some better ones? I need a very precise interpolation between the frames, is there a magical filter able to do it?
Thanks
Mat

July 9, 2007 at 1:41 pmGoogle time effects for After Effects.
Or try https://www.pluginz.com/category/17?from=rlist&genre=16&type=2&subcategory=22 for a list of time-specific plugins for After Effects. Expensive.Precision is easy with the time effects that come with AE but “precise interpolation” is a term you will need to explain.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

July 9, 2007 at 1:54 pmBy ‘precise interpolation’ I meen that the filter is in a way smart enough to recreate the images that don’t exist.

July 9, 2007 at 4:55 pmisn’t there something to do with “vectors” as far as creating frames that aren’t there? There is also an option to have it create frames from the frames that come before it and follow.
Sorry couldn’t be of more help.ian

July 9, 2007 at 11:14 pmTimewarp does that pretty well. Vector analysis of the pixel locations. Very long render times. What about timewarp didn’t you like?
The big dogs in this arena are smarter and more expensive.

Hint: pixel motion and frame blending.

July 13, 2007 at 6:02 pmI’ve used all of the AE plugins for time remapping and if you work at it Timewarp gives pretty good results, it’s built from the Kronos filter from the Foundry’s Furnace collection do it’s got a good pedigree. Twixtor gives good results too and uses standard time remapping keyframes which makes it really nice to set up, ReTimer is nice too. The best results I could get came from the Algolith plugins but last time I used them they were kind of buggy.
All of them work pretty well for stuff like pans but once you get foreground objects crossing a busy background you’ll start to see artifacts and will end up having to roto to get really clean results.
