Reading all of these posts it sounds like this is a KONA driver issue. Do we know if this issue exist with a decklink product. That would be one easy way to figure out if it is the way FCP is handling 720P HD footage and how that interacts with drivers, codecs etc.
It can not be a simple system thing because to many people are experiencing the same thing. I’d try the decklink forum to see if the problem exists there. Then we will know that it is FCP. If not it will have to be resolved in the driver.

Guys, i remeber hauling around a tk with a 3/4″ sonny 110 deck. I was not complaining that it adds weight as much as confirming that it is a heavy piece of glass threaded on to the front of the lens. This camges the camera’s balance, etc and it does put some wieght on the lens. Since you can not really see how the lens is mounted on the DVX putting stress (weight) on the lens can (n the very long term) have an effect.
Also, the adapter severly shortens an already weak lens (in terms of it’s telephoto range), by not being completely sharp all the way through the zoom. If you never need to zoom the lens to the maximun and you are willing to loose that part of the lens the adapter is great, but to me, in a doc situation I would rather have the whole lens and suffer a bit in squeeze mode. IMHO.

if you are staying in DVCAM codec then I would say what you are seeing is compression artifacting inherint in 5:1 compressed DVCAM material. If you were to online this SDI footage at ten bit uncompressed you might not see this.

also if you ever do look at footage in the field it is noce to use the end search function on the camera. This cues the VTR up to the last frame you recorded. Most breaks are caused by pwer downs or (in 24P mode) fast stop starts.

If you have a K-Box you get two RCA analog outs for monitoring. The K-box costs 299.99. Also, you do not have to use a 24 bit box off of the digital outputs, I use a very high quality Spectral DtoA converter and it does a really nice job. The flying cow is 24bit but I have heard that it does not use the best of 16to24bit converters so I wenr with a very good quality 16bit converter.
If you are using powred M-Audio speakers you will not hear teh dynamic ranger difference between 16 and 24bit and if you are coming out of an analog mixer to an analog device it will be hard to descern the difference between 16 and 24 bit.
If you just want audio monitoring you buy a flying cow or look for a really good 16bit dtoa converter for a good price on e-bay.

Ar ethe offlines coming from your own macine or the same machine or are these projects that are coming from other offline systems back to your place for recapture.
If the ladder is teh case then I think that it has something to do with the project file moving from machine to machine. It seems that when you stay on one system(like the other guys who posted) the problem does not exist.
So I would just double chek how that offline file is getting to you. Try edls, xmls and media managed projects too.

I know it seems like a longshot but what you are describing could be a form of RF noise. They do actaully emit electroonic signals and heck, hospitals don’t let you have them on.

With the Medea’s you can be positive it is not drive speed. Maybe you should contact AJA about this as it could be (it happens) a card issue, although I think it has something to do with a filter or setting because the QT is clean.
