You have to have your timeline view set to “view roles”. If you do not it will not display roles.

March 23, 2013 at 9:17 pm in reply to: how to do split screen while adding additional musician tracks? The metronome will be your friend when you want to line these tracks up.
I would ask the musicians to use a count in and start from the head of the track each time and record the longest pieces first.
This way you can line up each take on the last beat of the count in and then use any number of tools, including the built in ones to shrink the video to where it needs to be.

I think it is a RAM issue. * is the bare, bare bare minimum to make the program run, and so you need more to do the real heavy lifting.
I bought extra RAM from OWC and it makes a world of difference in large projects.
It scares me to think you have all that media on a FW 800 drive. Is it backed up?

Check your sequence render settings to make sure you are rendering to the quality that matches your output quality preferences.

Id say that this is the best quality workflow.
You will get the best images on your finish this way.

[Ramin Doostan] “We’ve always got the uninstall button 😀
“look. that is a pissy comment.
There is room in this software for improvement in areas like reconnecting media. There are many instances when the media is there, FCP X sees it, but it does not conform to some stringent standard within the software.
I should never have to EYE match a cut to relink media that is easily accessed.

In that case,
Blade the piece you want to move up then option drag it over the track you want to replace.

check this out…Consolidating & Transcode Events Before Backup or Transfer
I think this answers my questions and hopefully your too!”
Fantastic!
Except the current project is handling about 10TB of data from various disks. FCP X needs me to consolidate all of that data onto one disk.
There has to be a smarter way.

Try Exporting a V1.1 instead of V1,2 FCPX XML
