You can try opening the effect in motion and creating a copy. Adding the parameters you would like to control and publish the “new title” your custom version back to FCP.

So did anyone else notice that the blade tool icon has been changed to a pair of scissors!

I would take these steps.

1. Get a fresh disk.

I would say, connect the drive to another computer and repair it with Disk Warrior to rewrite the catalog file. It should then mount back on the upgraded computer.

I’ve seen this as well with Big Sur upgrades.

Import all of the footage into FCP X. SYNC The clips to create the Multicam.

Drop the clip into a timeline

Trim the unwanted 20 minutes in the timeline.

Lets get a list going of all the compatible (and incompatible) plugins foe M1 equipped macs.

FX factory callouts is NOT compatible for example.

Pixel film is hit and miss.

Let build a list of what is ans is not working here.

Can you duplicate the timeline and paste the new picture into the new timeline.

Or duplicate the timeline and remove all of the media and save it as a timeline preset.

The other option is to use X2Pro and convert your FCP X XML to an AAF file for import into Logic, which in my experience has been a smoother pathway and gets you all of the audio rather than the bounced tracks.

Will look at this again on the M1 Mac. Felt a bit slow and laborious on an older Mac, but I love the concept of the tool and it will be excellent for fast turnaround work.

Consider splitting the audio into dual mono before you import. Although it is an extra step it may save you a lot of time in the long run.

Or create a file like this to use as a cleanplate and use a node in resolve to do the replace.

I think Davinci resolve is your friend on this one. You could put a power window on that area and track it and use patch replacer from open FX, blur and grading tools . If the subject or shot don’t move much you could easily have it solved. If the interview lasts one hour, that is another story.

What are the CONVERSIONS settings and what happens when you select another Frame size in the FCP dropdown menu?

What are your FCP 10 Timeline settings?

What is the size of the image you are sending out FCP 10?

Can you create a 1080P timeline or a 4K timeline and try to send that out to the monitor?

Color is a great app. The last time I used it was in 2010. FCP’s native tools or even an excellent plugin is perhaps a better option in 2020. FCPX xml works well roundtripping with Resolve as well, which is also an excellent choice.

You can select all of the shots in the timeline and go to the transform tab in the inspector window and at the top right corner is the reset button.

that will reset every shot in the timeline that has any transform on it.

Or you could select the shots you want to reset and do the same thing.

It sound like you have mismatched settings between your timeline and source footage. Check to modify your sequence settings so that they match the frame size and frame rate of the original media.

My personal experience has not been good with Catalina or 10.4.9. After upgrading both I was unable to see .r3d footage in the viewer and none of the new proxy options worked.

I had to roll my machine back to Mojave and 10.4.8 in order to get things correct and I also had to recreate one library I had “upgraded” to work with 10.4.9.

Just drag shots, media, images, titles or whatever you want and the “tracks” appear. If you want a more traditional looking “timeline” you can use ROLES and LANES to have things stay in specific places. IE: you could create ROLES called V1 V2 V3 but then media in each one of those lanes would have to be tagged with that ROLE.
