Try this… Under RAID Admin, highlight your Xserve and select system, then settings in the toolbar. Enter your management password and select the performance tab. If “Allow Host Cache flushing” is checked, un-check it for both controllers. Then select “ok” and save your settings. Make sure your read prefetch is set to 8 stripes (512kb/disk). This helped me with dropped capture frames.

How would this effect my setup when the Kona LH card’s default Kona output is the Mac desktop? My 3 monitor configuration has 2 mac LCD’s with n/a selected in screen rates, and my Sony monitor as 59.9hz with option only to change to 60hz. Even when FCP controls the card output, would the default settings create a playback problem… and dropped frames?

How big of an issue is journaling with an Xserve Raid? I did select “extended with journaling” when creating this array.

You need the firmware Updater 5.1.4 from Apple. Its listed under G5 Support, search G5 firmware, or 5.1.4 search. It fixed many of my problems.

Do you know what the firmware upgrade was called? I think you can access this with system info and looking at the book rom version. My current problem version is 5.0.7f0. What’s yours?

    Thanks.

    David,

I’m having the same issues but haven’t gotten a resolution yet. I spoke to Kona support, and they reffered me to Apple… no solution. What was the firmware update called? Who did you speak with at AJA to get the right firmware?

Any help would be appreciated… client coming in next week!!!!

[Walter Biscardi] “I’m pretty sure you need to set up a 2Yuv Sequence preset and you should be good to go for the CineWave files.

What is a 2Yuv Sequence? Would this be a modification to an existing AJA sequence setting?
