  • Help with HD WMV Files

I have a client that needs video encoded as Windows Media files… 8mbps, 72p, .wmvHD. I’ve been using flip4mac but haven’t previously created HD wmv files. Bit rates in F4Mac don’t exceed 1232kbps (presets)… Can I alter the bit rate to the 8mbps and encode the 720p files that way? Could anyone recommend another program that might handle this better from FCP? Any help would be appreciated.

    G5 2.0, 8mb ram, Xserve Raid, Tiger 4.0.3, FCP 5

You can set bit rates MUCH higher than the presets. You should be able to encode at least to 6000kbps by typing it in. Certainly try typing in 800kbps. Make sure you set Input Frame to Interlace UPPER field first, Output Frame Progressive. You have access to processing filters if you encode in Compressor 2 which Flip4Mac works in.

    Thanks… I’ll run some tests.
