Great news for FCP. Great news for Apple. Fantastic news for freelance editors in the UK. Facilities houses will still find work…….BAD news for Avid. It’s about time they had a kick in the butt.

Have you tried ‘Edit to tape’ rather that ‘Print to’…..edit to tape always works for me.

    Hello,

As far as I know you can’t import animated .gif’s into FCP. Couldn’t you import the .gif into Photoshop, and convert it into a series of stills, and re-animate it in FCP…..might work.

    Hello,

Am I right in saying that you can set both windows to show video in high, medium, & low quality? Maybe you have one set to show high, & the other low? Just a thought.

    Hi all,

I’m using a G5 dual 2.5ghz, with 1gig of RAM, (to be upgrade to 4gig on Tuesday) 9800 XT 256mb graphics card.
I’m using Motion 1, and apart from the normal crashes, all appears to work, without any problems. With 4gig of RAM things are bound to work a bit smoother.

  • Great idea Smooth, I’ll give it a go!!

  • Hello David,

Many thanks for your post. I’ve checked my cables, ie: Speakers, I’ve panned the two mono channels so that audio 1 is left, and audio 2 is to the right.
I captured the video into the mac using a DSR-25, and checked the audio levels while capturing the video. The lead singer sounds a bit like Sting, so he has a very good vocal range, which doesn’t help.
Could you please give me a bit of advice on how to find out if the audio is out of phase.
    Many thanks again

    Dave

I’ve used the 3 band EQ on both channels, but no joy as yet.

    Hello Dean,

I’ve had the same problem!! are you using compressor? or are you exporting the movie as a Quicktime movie from FCP direct?
If you are exporting the movie from FCP, try unchecking ‘make movie self-contained’

    Hope this helps

Many thanks for you input Jeff. But I think I’ve sorted out the problem. 1: My DVD player is on the blink!! 2: I was using the wrong codec 3: And last but not least….sub standard recordable DVD’s!! I did a test wish a Sony disc, and an unbranded disc, and you really can see the difference.
    Many thanks again
