    Hello Dude,

Is there anyway you could use the footage as is…..with the green screen as the background? Ie: creative use of matte, graphics, etc…..just a thought.
You could always select the background colour,(as long as you have minimal spill) and replace the green with anouther colour, and place a blur on the selected colour, to blend in the edges.
    Hope you get it sorted.

Men at Work…..I love that song!!!!

Back to you question…..if you are using DVD Studio Pro, or any other package for that matter, you can change the region code when you create the DVD.
FCP won’t allow you to do anything other that select the countries TV system,ie: PAL, NTSC.

Hope this helps…..good luck with the project

    Hello,

I don’t back up the tapes as such, but I do capture the footage, and make a DVD back-up.
This has been a wake-up call for me, and having thought about it I will be making copies of any future footage……just in case!!!!

Happy New Year, and all the best

January 2, 2006 at 11:24 pm in reply to: Sync problems

    Hello,

    I’ve had this problem for a while now. I’m using a dual 2.5ghz G5 with 4 gb of RAM, OSX 10.3.9, & FCP 4.5HD.
When I work on a timeline/project any longer than say an hour I get problems when I scrub through the footage, and try to play the footage back….there always seems to be a very slight, (11 frames or so) sync problem.
This can be caused if you haven’t allowed your drives to spin up to full speed before you try and play the footage.
I’m currently working on a live video for a band UK called ‘Half Man Half Biscuit’ and I’ve been getting this problem for most of today. The worse thing is I’m working with footage from five cameras, and I’ve had to sync up all of the video tracks manually. Everytime the sync problem appears I have to recheck all of my video tracks to make sure none of them are REALLY out of sync.

    Happy New Year

  • Hi all,

I did the audio mixdown, and it seemed to work, fingers crossed!!!!
I’m using a single Lacie external firewire drive, (most of my projects are music promo’s, so I can get away with a single drive).
I’m in the process of moving, so I’m going to look at my entire set-up when I’m settled in.
Many thanks again, take care, and have a great weekend.

    All the best

  • Hello all,

Many thanks indeed for your responces. I’m trying to view SD PAL footage full screen, so I now realise why the footage is looking a bit ropey.
Shane, many thanks for your advice, I’ll try out the advice you gave me in the morning.

All the best, have a great weekend

Thank you all for your input. I think I’ll wait for the OS update, and try an install on a second system drive, this seems like the safest thing to do.

    Thanks again

Sorry Avid, but your systems are overpriced compaired to FCP systems. I was an Avid editor at Granada Media, so I’ve had the benefit of working on both systems, and I know which one I prefer.
