    hi all
ive just upgraded to fcp 5 and the same problem apears as on 4.5 hd ,damn.

ive been using fcp for at least 5-6 years,a lot of workarounds ive done but im crazy on this one…
    getting to the point…he,he
if i want to print to video video stucks or audio breaks, not always on the same TC,dough(usually after 10 minutes or more)
it even happens if i just play it from the timeline…

mixdown audio and all render did not solved the problem.

im working in 8 or 10 bit uncompresed video format,dual2.5 ghz g5 4 gig ram,1.6 TB huge(2 ch)atto scsi controller and
blackmagic deckilnk hd pro dual…os 10.4

    yours
    m.

I just had this “hair pulling” problem trying to output a HDV show. I discovered that some comps I built in After Effects in the HDV codec were causing the problem. They imported fine into FCP and did not require rendering. I rebuilt those comps with the Animation codec, imported them to FCP and rendered them in the timeline. Then output work like a champ. This might not be your problem, but if you’ve got some After Effect comps, try pulling those out of the timeline and see if it works. Hope this helps.

    hi,

    the same problem as mine.
i’ve done a complete new installation of the system an final cut and everything worked fine.
but then i installed other packages like photoshop, after effects, shake…
and the problem went back. hmm. i installed them all in once (stupid!) so i cannot identify which of them
    causes the problem.

is the QMaster stuff from shake something like a “resident” application that may cause the trouble?

tiger, fc 5 on dual 2.7. all updates

    any idea?

i think theres a problem in some clips which were captured or imported. They have corrupted in some wierd way which cannot bee seen during the playback or capture.
but this was not the problem on earlier versions of fcp or in 9.xx OS thats why im so frustrated with it.
I made a few 3 hours long Opera shows few years ago on my old g4…old fcp also…not a hickup…
I dont feel comfortable doing finals longer then few minutes on my new G5 system…this is not good
now imgine how i feel when the producer comes in editing room at the moment that im printig to tape
and the damn thing starts to freeze,or audio goes whacky

    BTW
this is kinda pc behavior … on os x a lot of programs running in the background…i hate it.
I most certanly didnot buy mac to see whats the temperature in Spain…or to see dock going up and down in a very smoooood kinda way

    or to update regulary!!!!

    Steve what were you thinking!!!

that’s what i’m asking for: does somebody know which of those processes may cause the told problems???

    greetings

Have you tried ‘Edit to tape’ rather that ‘Print to’…..edit to tape always works for me.
