Hi Nigel,

I reinstalled DVDA and it still does not see the burner.

I have also discovered that Vegas 10 64bit and Vegas 7 32bit do not see the burner either. However both Vegas versions mentioned above do recognize the burner under the “Import_Camcorder DVD Disc…”

Nero and the Windows DVD burning software both see the burner.

Any thoughts?

Disabling the preview seemed to solve the freezup problem during capture. Thanks John. Now I need to figure out whats wrong with this damn computer!

The reason I am asking is this–About a month ago my editing computer started freezing whenever I played a video file in any of my video viewing software (quicktime, windows media player & a Nero player)also freezez using Blufftitler (which uses video card). I can put the video on the Vegas timeline and view it with no problems. Because of this I was thinking I was having problems with the video card. Now today I am trying to capture some video via firewire using Vegas 7 and 9 (which I do all the time) and it is freezing up at randow times (after several attempts). So I was wondering if it could be video card related.

Thanks for your suggestion Mike, but the saga continues. I tried both DVD Shrink and DVD Encrypter. Both softwares go throught the creation of the VOB files, but they only ad up to 22 seconds of video (they should be 52 minutes).

I noticed that when I open the folder on the DVD itself and highlight the VOB files the time at the bottom of the Windows 7 folder also ads up to 22 seconds. But when I play the DVD in a player or DVD viewing software on the pc it runs for the full 52 minutes.

Right now I’m tilting my head to the side like a dog does when it’s trying to figure out what you want!

This sort of sucks 🙂

I did a bit more research on this.

The DVDs contain a “VIDEO_TS” folder (as mentioned in the thread above).

When I play one of the DVDs on a set top DVD player or on my computer using my DVD viewing software, the video shows up as a 51 minute video.

In the VIDEO_TS folder there were 3 .vob files. One was approx 780mb one was 40mb and the other was approx 1gb. I renamed them with the .mpg extention (per above suggestion) and imported them into Vegas. Once on the timeline in Vegas the total run time of the three clips equaled approx 22 seconds.

I don’t know what’s going on! Any thoughts?
