For now I am surviving using the P2 Store as the card reader. It’s still pretty quick. I got a message back from duel saying that they were working around the clock to create a driver/fix but hadn’t come up with one yet. They will post it on their web site support paeg as soon as it’s ready.

I had the same problem downloading with the P2Genie. Fortunately we shot 2 cameras so I was able to easily identify the card because of its size. I just match it up with the A camera. I’m hearing more and more negative comment about P2 Genie. I downloaded HD Log Pro from the following site:

The demo version will allow you unlimited P2 Card transfers. I will be using it next. In the meantime I would re transfer all of your files from the P2 Store so you have them. The most reliable way is one by one.
Good luck!

Sorry to use this thread to discuss other issues.
We are using a Sans Digital MS2UB (FW800) to hold all the P2 footage. We bought about 60 trays and 60 500 GB Drives (500 is the best current price point)
It’s great because it’s set up as a raid 1 and mirrors the files to both drives.
We then give one drive to the editor who uses a Sans Digital MS1UT (eSATA) to dump the footage to the MR5CT1 3TB Raid (eSATA). We vault the other drive in the event of corrupt data.
So far it has been great. It really seems to be reliable and the price was as good as anything we found.
Check out the site. You can buy the gear on newegg.com and save a bundle. Tiger Direct has the best price on Seagate 7200.9 500GB SATA Drives.

Back to original issue. If I can’t bet this duel card to work, downloading the cards to the P2 store and then to the raid will just add another step and slow us down a little more!

Mine card should be here tomorrow and I’m in the same boat with the MacBook Pro! I start a 12 episode series on Monday and really would like to use the Duel card to download to the raid instead of the P2 Store. So what do we do?

Thanks Barry. We are going to start the time code in free-run with the remote so they both start at the same time. This is should be more accurate than pushing two buttons at the same time. We will then use a traditional hard slate so we can easily determine any off-set. We are trying to make it easy on the editor.

I would bet that not one of them is reliable. They all operate the same way. Your best bet is to go to B&H. I think it is selling for $5195 right now which is a great price for that camera. You could try one of the pther places but you will quickly learn that if you are comparing apples to apples on what you get it will cost you about the same. Best of luck.

I doubt it is a reputable place. It’s common to find these deals but they usually mean that it is a gray market (No USA warranty) an they sometimes are misssing all of the normally included items (Battery, Charger, Cables, etc.) They will sell you a warranty and all this stuff separately but it usually ends up being pretty close to the same price as a good place like B&H or Adorama. My experience has been that it’s a lot less hassle to buy it right the first time.

On the back of the camera is a button to set the camera top VCR mode. It won’t recognize until that is changed. If you have already done that I’m not sure what it is.

Check this one out.

There is also of course Porta-Brace which makes a ton of great bags. I would also recomend a hard case. The Pelican 1520 is pretty light and fits in the overhead compartment opf airplanes so it make a good carry-on bag.

It looks like it would work but it won’t be as fast as this one which should be shipping in a couple of weeks.
