If you own your own small company and work out of your home it’s only about $100-$200 per year to add a rider to your homeowners policy. I think that may be better that buying a specific policy for just the camera since it covers all your gear if it’s under $50,000. Talk to your insurance agent about what the company offers. You may have to bump up the cost a little to get it to cover the camera while you are out shooting but that should be covered under a production insurance policy.

This may seem silly but make sure the camera is set to VTR mode instead of camera mode.

I got a Pelican 1520. It’s very lightweight and holds the following:

    P2 Camera
    3 Batteries
    Battery Charger & Cord
    P2 Card Store
    2 P2 Cards
    Misc Cables
    External Mic

I think Pelican makes a zippered top for the case which will hold a few more odd and ends. It’s pretty light with what I have in it which makes it noce to carry.

It WILL fit in the airline overhead compartments which is a huge bonus since I refuse to check the camera. You may be missing lights and other gear but you can still shoot if you have to.

    Good luck!
