January 31, 2012 at 6:49 am in reply to: Sony Vegas Startup Error/What programs does it need to start? You will have to try doing a complete uninstall and then reinstalling Vegas. EG, obtain a program that removes registry keys and such. You shouldn’t need quicktime to run Vegas — only to view mov files (and thus, Vegas will use the codec to run).
Vegas only needs what comes on a basic Windows box. That is, if you buy a fresh machine, and install Vegas, everything’s there and it works.
So my thoughts are you uninstalled a program that uninstalled something that comes with the Windows OS, or uninstalled something you had Vegas configured to use. Since Vegas won’t start, you’ll have to get some sort of program that can dig through the registry and remove those settings.
Also try going into your C:Document and Settings folder, look for your userid, and remove any Vegas folders in there (after you’ve uninstalled Vegas) — you might get lucky. 🙂

Don’t you have to render the audio for those as separate ACC files?

Hmmm… what are you trying to do? ARe you sure you don’t require a “media server”?

January 31, 2012 at 6:42 am in reply to: Sony Vegas Pro 11 does not complete renderingTry removing the video portion from your project where it hangs during the render.
If it continues through without incident, then you know there’s something in the video and/or the special effects you’re using that’s causing the problem.
Also try just rendering portions of your project instead of the entire thing at once and see what happens. That will at least help you narrow down the problem area.

In addition to ANgelo’s response:
1) Get an SSD for the OS and programs
2) get 1 hard drive dedicated to reading the source video files
3) get 2 hard drives in a RAID 0 configuration for rendering the videos to.—————————————–

Is it only 1 project that causes you problems? Or all videos?

Set the dynamic ram preview to 256 or less. Play with it. There are weird issues with the dynamic ram preview setting.
Also, what happens when you “selectively pre-render video” and then watch it that way? Does everything come out ok?

Does it crash with any project you work on?
Or only a specific one?
Have you noticed if it’s a common effect you’re adding that causes it to crash? For instance, if you’re using a plugin and there’s a bug in the plugin, that could take down Vegas every time you use it.

January 31, 2012 at 12:20 am in reply to: Sony Vegas 10 Slow rendering CPU / GPU rending testedThanks for that. Very interesting indeed. Glad to see I’m not the only one who has had issues with the Dynamic Ram preview.
As far as I’m concerned, I’m just using a RAM DISK now — faster than any other way to render or SSD. 🙂
