January 14, 2012 at 4:23 am in reply to: How to do this effect? Shadow dancing differently from person?Steve:
That sounds like a great trick!
However, that doesn’t hold up in the video I posted. If you watch it, there will be several places where her shadow dances differently and overlaps the actual figure. Examples are at the 1:48 and 2:15 marks.
Thoughts?

January 14, 2012 at 2:55 am in reply to: How to do this effect? Shadow dancing differently from person?[Danny Hays] “The shadow appears to be real, look where she is half on the plywood, the shadow looks real here. I think they shot the shadow and then shot her in front of a greenscreen and overlayed that onto the shadow clip.”
To loosely translate to make sure I understand what you’re saying…
1) they shot her in the warehouse dancing, with the camera between her and the shadow so they catch the shadow dancing around on the background and not her.
2) then they shoot her again with a green/blue screen, and then overlay that video on top of the warehouse one.
Correct?

January 14, 2012 at 2:48 am in reply to: Video rendering takes up space on wrong hard drive[Kevin Miller] “Perhaps you could answer another question for me, it was going just fine until it got to about frame 1600. It did all those frames in 30 mins- 1 hr, which isn’t a big deal to me, but then once it hit the 1600ish range, it has been slugging along, and this has happened consistently at the 12-13% mark no matter what order I put these videos in. I’m trying to render a 7 minute long video and it ALWAYS hangs at that mark, and then renders about 1 frame per 5-10 minutes, which is just insane. Do you have any clue why this could be happening?
It is currently at 2 hours in and we’ve rendered 1696 frames… It estimates 9 hours left, which is ridiculous in itself, but last night it was doing the same thing, I woke up and we made it all the way to having it be 16% done with 24 hours left.”
Several people have experienced this issue, including myself.
How much memory do you have set under “options | video | dynamic ram preview”?
If it’s more than 128mb, try setting it to 128mb or less, and see what that does for you.
On my system, anything over 256mb slows down rendering tremendously. Another user on here was just experiencing the same issue, did what I suggested above, and it resolved it for them as well.
It looks to be a bug nobody’s reported to Sony yet.

Hi Jorge,
Glad that resolved it! It looks like it’s a bug in Vegas 11 that nobody’s reported yet.
As for the external monitor — not sure what to say about that. It’s your call. What video card do you have? Is it relatively new?

January 13, 2012 at 7:54 am in reply to: Video rendering takes up space on wrong hard driveWhat are your project settings?
I got caught out by this once as I opened and copied a project from another one.
All my settings were set to another drive.
However, when I viewed the project properties it was pointing back to the C drive.
Check it out and let us know.
If that’s set to F as well, can you upload screen captures of the settings you have with the specified folders?

You go back to a previous build by having the archive saved somewhere and reloading it.
Can’t believe you’re having those problems. I would try reloading it. Nobody I know personally nor myself have had any issues like that with the 64-bit release on Win 7.
