If you have no more slots look at the AJA IO. It is firewire based SD only and is a great product.

  • Here are some setting that will get you in the 30mb per hour area exporting from QT. However your viewers will need Quicktime 6 or higher to view this. If you lower the bitrate the file size should shrink. You can also compress the audio more. Do some testing on a one minute piece until you get the file size you want. I did these test at home with FCP 4.5. FCP 5 results may vary.

  • We noticed the same audio sync problem when going through our mixer. We used the RCA outs from the KL-Box to our monitor which temporally solved our sync problem until we can look into it more. If you still have problems with audio sync feel free to contact me as we seem to have very similar set ups.

Our best numbers with our Quad was when we had to compress 45 30 minutes programs to iPod video.
    G5 Dual 2 = 1 hour and 15 for each 30 minutes
    G5 Quad = 10 Minutes for each 30 minutes
This was using Quicktime for the compressing. Compressor is twice as fast.

April 15, 2006 at 8:36 pm in reply to: Audio Level setting

    This what we have noticed:
If you bring in one channel mono it comes in 4db lower.
If you bring in two channels stereo it comes in 4db hotter.
When we set the input level at -12 on the FCP meters after capture the levels in FCP reflect the above numbers.
If you pan the mono input left or right it will match the -12 level. That doesn’t help because we don’t pan mono tracks after capturing. We ended up adjusting our levels on capture, mono captured at -6 = -12, stereo -18 = -12.

Here is the problem, for some reason you have to open your export from FCP or where every and manually change the frame to Square.
