“ProRes is a “lossless” codec, MPEG-2 very lossy.
ProRes 422 is going to be perfect for making DVD transcodes. Even LT would probably do the job just fine.

For whatever reason Compressor isn’t detecting the correct reverse telecine cadence so it’s not working properly.
Cinema tools could deinterlace it fine but something was odd about the frame blurring. Every fourth or fifth frame of your subject walking to the door had a double motion blur even though it was a solid frame.
There were no interlaced fields so it looks like it was from how it was shot.
Something could be awry with the shutter angle setting on that camera or it’s from not having the advanced setting enabled. I haven’t had an HVX for a long time so I can’t remember what could cause that.
If you have FCS 3 laying around you can batch reverse telecine in cinema tools. I made an earlier comment that you don’t want to use the Cinema Tools processed clips in FCP X but that’s only for conformed clips not rev telecine.

Why do you need to add 3:2 pulldown to your master? Is that the delivery spec sheet?

In the inspector you can set the audio to dual mono and then mute the left channel.
What kind of shotgun mic did you get? Is it a stereo mic?

You can also select the clip in FCP X and hit shift-cmd-R in the event.

Can you import them by just letting FCP X rewrap them to QuickTime files? That’s all I would need. Apologies for not being more clear earlier. This would be without removing pulldown obv.
Transcoding the codec could muss it up, not rewrapping.

It’s true, the other tidbit I got was “They are trashing everything in FCP X and starting over from scratch again and rebranding it fcpOS.”
It will require a VR headset and special gloves to operate.
