If you rendered out of AE losslessly then the data rate of the video is probably too high for your computer to handle. If you have QuickTime Pro (and you should) you can just (cmd-e/ctrl-e) export out from QuickTime player to a new codec, I recommend Photo JPEG for good quality and fast playback (still large file size though).

May 9, 2007 at 3:20 am in reply to: KRAMER!!! Well.. anyone can help with multiple LumaMatte RevealsTry soloing the layer you’re having trouble with to see if its a problem caused by another layer or something you’ve overlooked with the layer/track matte itself.
One element that immediately stands out to me as a possible culprit is the time-remap on the luma matte. It looks like the reveal is animated forward, holds and then goes in reverse (hiding instead of revealing?). I’m not sure if I’m reading that right from the still photos…

[djmattcue] “just alt click and drag the new clip from the project window and drop it over the old clip in the timeline window. On a mac I believe you would hold in the apple key.”
The mac equivalent of alt is option. Ctrl is equivalent to the apple/command key. Adobe is very good about keeping to this standard.

Well, this technique would be easiest by far if your bullet is also located in AE’s 3D space (you could parent the emitter to the bullet), but you could use Trapcode Particular to create a spotlight emitter that emits rings of particles in the bullet’s wake, blur it some and use that for a displacement map.

If you’re asking about the physical setup of the green screen, the commonly held ideal is to use specialized paint (https://www.eefx.com/eefx2/store/cat_ck_paint.html) but fabric drapes can often be used (try a search online).
An alternative is having your own ‘chroma paint’ mixed: https://www.detonationfilms.com/low_budget_chroma_green_paint.htm
As far as lighting the green screen I wouldn’t be the best person to direct you, but I can tell you that you generally want it brightly lit and always evenly lit. Make sure your subjects aren’t too close to the screen, as this will result in green light spilling onto them and can make keying more difficult. If you are shooting with a floor then be aware that the seam between wall and floor can pose problems in keying (you can create a cyclorama, or curve between the two planes to ease the problem).

Honestly I’m more of a mac guy, so I’m not familiar with Font Managers, but I’m using AE on Windows in boot camp until CS3 ships and I can tell you that the unicode shortcuts (the few I can remember/look up now and then) flat out don’t work in AE. I usually use the character map.

[Aharon Rabinowitz] “Expanding and compressing keyframes the way either I or wuzelwazel suggest will keep the timing proportions correct.”
I disagree vociferously!… Just because I miss the good old days (;

So it has… it seems that the link unnecessarily redirects you to the old photoshop elements forum which then redirects you to this forum. Ahh, the idiosyncrasies of the COW =)

You should probably try posting in the Photoshop Elements forum. I, for one, have never used it before.

Try clearing your image cache, sometimes AE caches incorrectly rendered frames and doesn’t know that something is wrong. Edit > Purge > Image Cache.
If that doesn’t do it, turn off the light rays effect and try re-rendering. Or you could reset the Light Rays effect to its default settings and try again.
