I jumped in with both feet. Between projects. Did a full clone backup first. All is running well with 10.5.5 and QT 7.5.5. And Blackmagic released a new driver for their cards so did that one, too. Feeling pretty cocky with the backup in place. Can’t say as I’m seeing any big changes, but syncing is better with Mobile Me. Yes, my edit station is my main computer so these things matter to me. Capture and edit working fine on ProRes timeline. Wait a minute…I think my Boxer is behaving better. She’s not whining at the office door. Could be a coincidence. If anything gets hinky in the next few days, I’ll roll back to my backup.

The following article might be helpful It’s a bit dated but still applies.
https://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/feature_capture_card.htmlI tend to capture my DV or HDV footage through a converter as an SDI signal and use 8 bit uncompressed or Prores codecs. I’ve had the HD Extreme card for about 2 years and and I’m very pleased with the image quality and frequent updates from BMD. The low price was a major factor in my purchase decision.

I’ve been a VKey2 user for awhile now and I agree, it’s a very good keyer and the price is right. I just used their new fx plugin version keyer for properly lit DVCAM footage and the results are impressive. Speed is very fast, and it has an “auto angle” function that gets you right in the ballpark for most of the keying parameters, if not dead on. Customer service is top notch. I’m sure some of these other keying software options are fine too, but this one is pretty easy, fast, and delivers good results.

have you verified the settings in the system preferences decklink pane? how are you cabled to your video monitor?

Use the “Y” cable of the component input and hook that up to your VCR with proper adaptor. Then set your Decklink System preference pane to composite input.
