I will do some testing on my system, but I’m not having any issues with the combo of software you mention. I have the BMD HD Extreme card and a Betacam 1800 deck and an HVR-M25U.

I’m running 6GB RAM. Two 1GB’s and two 512K’s in Riser A. Same configuration in Riser B. In other words, pairs of everything. Is this not approved? I don’t seem to be having any issues and have been running this way for months. Is the system not running at full real-time potential?

If you’re just fishing for opinions, I’d choose the Decklink over Matrox. I’ve owned both and find the support with BMD to be quite good. Regular releases of updates. I’ve had my HD Extreme card for over a year now and have had zero issues with the card.

Yes my cable is the short one, too. I guess they save a few bucks giving us the short cable. I had to pick up a few new audio and video cables to complete my system wiring. I’ve been happy with mine and support has been there when I had questions.

Currently I’m running the 6.5.1 driver. I’m in the middle of projects so I don’t want to update to 6.6 yet. When I finish up these shows I’ll probably load the 6.6 driver.

Not being a video engineer, I can’t say how they do it. I just know what I see on the screen. Perhaps someone from Convergent can chime in and explain the process.
