“I meant to pull the MPEG2 import onto the timeline and then render it to DV-AVI. Now just delete the MPEG2 import and edit using the new DV-AVI file.”

This was Edward’s suggestion form earlier.

I’ll have to find a camcorder then.
Will any camcorder do or must it be the one used to record this particular disc?

I now understand what you mean by rednering to AVI once the raw asset is imported. Will do that.
    Thanks.

Thanks Edward,—I appreciate that the quality would be better.
But I don’t have the camcorder only the disc.
And Vegas doesn’t see the disc in my DVD machine,—doesn’t recognize it.
Says “no disc available”. Like it’s not there,—but it is.

    Did that Jeremy.
    Window says no dsic available.
In fact the disc is in the machine.
Tried browsing to machine, but no luck,—just window with grayed out “OK”.
    Maybe a preference we’re overlooking?
    Thanks

    P4 3.00 Ghz, 3.01 Ghz 1.00 GB of RAM.
    System is RAID configured.
    C drive 80 GB
    E drive 250 RAIDED
    F and G are swappable 180 abd 250 respetively.
Notice system grind down when I open more than one instance of Vegas.
Seen various error messages including “low memory”.

What IS sufficient IYO to render video? 2.0 GB,—more?

    Tried all that stuff.
Finally plugged firewire into different receptical on machine and everything sprang back to life.
    May be a card problem.
    Am capturing again.
    Thanks.
