easisest thing is to make the mask on a solid above your layer and set it as a track matte

if you have QT pro, you can take your render, hit cmd/cntrl J, go to the visual settings, and change the size from 720 to 1024.
hit save and it will open correctly from now on

jimmybee was pretty spot on.
if you dont deal too much in comps that have multiple video files, then the speed was be as important.
if you need to read in several layers of footage for each frame render (especially if those are HD) then drive speed will matter. multiply than by the amount of cpu’s you have ( if you are rendering with nucleo or plan to use AE CS3) and you can see where this is going

if double its speed is acceptable then you can easily render it with fields.
if not, if he can reexport half speed, then you can add the fields in AE.
Otherwise i think fieldskit from re:vision might be able to do what you want

FieldsKit ReinterlacerCreate interlaced material from progressive material using motion estimation.
Ability to interlace frames from a progressive sequences. This is often useful for applications that do no support interlaced frame display (such as After Effects)
Ability to combine and blend fields to help reduce artifacts in interlaced material.who is that masked man…

if you change the spatial interpolation of those keyframes (right click to get to the option) to linear than you they wont bounce, but you animation will move in a linear fashion from point to point..
if this is what you want as a default you can set the in the general prefs.
also, if you have you layer selected, you will see the keyframes and path, and see why it is doing what it is doing. if you hold down control and move your cursor over a position keyframe in the comp window, you will see it change to a >. if you click the keyframe it will make it linear as well

the quick thing would be to precompose your transformed layer, then paint on the precomped layer

motion3 will have a 2.5/3d environment like the current one in AFX, but there were some WHISPERS that a 3rd party MIGHT be able to add in model import…
