I have done a search but didn’t find anything answers specific to this issue. I have inherited a credit roll from a graphic designer who doesn’t do broadcast video. I requested a 1080 50i quicktime file which he delivered. However, his roll is progressive (both fields are identical) and shudders in the Final Cut HD sequence.

I suspect the problem is that he hasn’t made the roll with the text interlaced, although he has correctly made the QT file as 50i with the correct field order. He used Flash to make the roll and then imported it into AE. Can he make the imported text roll interlaced within AE, prior to export the rendered file?

Thanks for any help. I don’t know AE and he doesn’t know broadcast video – a nice pickle with deadlines approaching (of course).

if double its speed is acceptable then you can easily render it with fields.

if not, if he can reexport half speed, then you can add the fields in AE.

Otherwise i think fieldskit from re:vision might be able to do what you want

    FieldsKit Reinterlacer

Create interlaced material from progressive material using motion estimation.
Ability to interlace frames from a progressive sequences. This is often useful for applications that do no support interlaced frame display (such as After Effects)
Ability to combine and blend fields to help reduce artifacts in interlaced material.

Thanks for the tips. Speed is critical as it is timed to music.

I will pass on the link to the plugin which seems to be the ticket.
