When I render my comps which are in Widescreen (PAL) to a quicktime .mov , the final output quicktime .mov is not in widescreen. Is there something in the render queue settings that I’m not doing?
I’m also a newbie to After Effects

From memory quicktime doesn’t honour aspect ratios. If you have a widescreen comp with non-square pixels it’ll just play them as square pixels. The assumption is that when you convert to MPEG and stick it on DVD as widescreen, it will stretch it for you.

If this is for PC playback, then you need to stick your comp into a PAL widescreen SQUARE PIXEL composition and render again. Square pixel PAL comps are 1024×576. Quicktime will show you that as widescreen.

Hope that makes sense…it’s late 🙂

if you have QT pro, you can take your render, hit cmd/cntrl J, go to the visual settings, and change the size from 720 to 1024.

hit save and it will open correctly from now on

Alexxx , thanks so just so I know I’m on the right track, to render for widescreem DVD I must use square pixels. So should I render using a different codec.
