It also need an X58 or P55 chipset. Asus P6X58D-e or premium and Gigabyte makes two boards that will work as well.

try just changing the extention of your .vob files to .mpg and edit those and see what difference that makes. Editing .wmv files is hard on the CPU.

Vegas Pro 9 and 10 support 2k and 4k resolution and should be able to handle your file res as well. 4k is 4096 x 2304.

Do all of the M2TS files act like this? That is a VERY highly compressed format and it really needs an i7 to edit it. But you can render all your clips as NTSC DV widescreen with the same name but the extention will be .avi and edit those. Then just before rendering, Right click on each of the DV files in your project media window and click replace, point the the original .m2ts files and since they will have the same name they’ll be easy to find. Then render to your desired format. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

I use that utility all the time now. If you didn’t know, click start, type backup, and select create system image backup. Make sure you create a repair DVD when it’s done. Boot with that repair DVD and point to that image folder.

If I’m not mistaken, GPU Nvidia Cuda cores only helps in Vegas 10 Pro and only with rendering AVCHD. Not with Vegas preview quality.
They’re right in AVCHD being the new HD standard, but a home build i7 will edit it fine. I hve a TM700 that shoots 1080 60p in .mts format and it edits that just fine. If your going to edit AVCHD, (very highly compressed format), Then make yourself a computer to handle that type of format. You can still work with AVCHD on a dual core but the preview rate will be very sluggish.
By the way, you can build an i7 for under a grand. That with a $750 TM700 is still less than a lower level HVR-A1 Sony HDV camera alone.
And you have a new high speed computer to edit it’s format and anything else you want to throw at it.I just had a Sony HVR-A1 eat a tape and got an estimate of over $800 to repair it. ????? No more tape for me.

Do you have your previes window set to “Preview/auto”? The quality is a little worse but you may get enough visable frames to see your transitions this way.

To make it slow motion by fragging the edge, you have to hold cntl down first then click the edge and drag. you will see a zig zag line in the event showing the speed has been altered.

Don’t uninstall 8. You can install both and use both. Don’t uninstall Cineform as Vegas hasn’t come with it since,, before 8 since you had to aquire it. Vegas isn’t backwards compatible so if you save a version 8 project in 10, you won’t be able to open it in 8 anymore. Just make copyies fo all your .VEG files from ver 8 with
8 at the beginning of the name. This way all your ver 8 veg files will on top in explorer and ver 10 will be after. An easy way to “Keep em seperated” {snare snare} “music starts” OK,,,good thing i’m not a comedian. LOL -
If it’s a chain of plugins your going to use alot, you can save it as an effect chain. Just click the effect icon like your going to add another effect, click save as, and this chain and all it parameters will be saved as an effect that you can add just like a single one except they will be in the Filter Packages folder.
