The camera is about four years old, so warranty was probably out of the question. Also I looked into gettin it repaired from a local camera shop, and sony does not supply them with schematics and manuals anymore, forcing us to sent it to Sony.
All it did was eat a tape, and it just died. They said it bent some gears in the tape handling mechanizim it and blew the main board and the fuse. ?????
What good was the fuse? They’re put them there to protect the hardware. Not a big fan of Sony cameras anymore, or tape based ones anyway.
Also when I got it back, it didn’t charge my battery through the camera anymore. I got in touch with the main engineer from sony repair there at Teanech and he sad it’s probably the battery being defective. So I just bought an ext. battery charger and it’s charging that battery. I’m still waiting for my new batteries to arrive to see if they charge through the camera.
I want to sell this A1 but need it to be fully operational.
I hope you have better luck than I have. Sincerely, Danny Hays -
If you plan on editing AVCHD, then yes as Pro 10 has been optimized for AVCHD. Also you should get an i7 with a NVidea video card with alot of Cuda cores since ver 10 now uses NVidea graphics cards gpu for the first time. It only helps when rendering AVCHD so far.
Hope this helps, Danny Hays

May 12, 2011 at 8:30 am in reply to: Event Pan/Crop – Automatically Display for Selected ItemNot quite that easy, but just click on the event and crop icon on an event and the pan and crop window will switch to it. If you have your timeline tracks too small to see the pan and crop icon, just right click on that event and select pan and crop.
Hope this helps, Danny Hays

The Intensity card and Shuttle come with Media Express to cpature and playback if you like. I capture as 1080i motion jpeg 4.2.2 avi and the quality is better than if I capture via firewire as 4.2.0 .m2t.

I had thaat same problem with my Presonus Firepod when I loaded Windows 7 64 bit. I had to change my IEEE-1394 drivers to the old legacy drivers and it works fine now.

I render greenscreen files to mp4 and wmv all the time and have never seen this problem. Has it done it with more than one project?
Is it posible you may have accidently added some keyframes to the chromakey effect for that project? -
A simple and free way is to use Yahoo instant messenger. You and the person you want to send the files to log in to it as if you were going to send messages, then drag the large file onto the message window. Your friend will get a message saying you are trying to send a file, do you except? he clicks yes, and any size file can be sent.
