GoldWave rediscovered
It’s been a long while since I needed to work with audio problems. My work required me to record my voice reading text, and the computer’s noise in my office was a distinct presence. I rediscovered GoldWave as a terrific, inexpensive way to remove that background noise. I think GoldWave’s noise removal works best if you leave a bit of blank audio on the front of the shot — Goldwave removes it automatically. Free to try for a long time, then all of $49 for “lifetime” or $19 for a year, either of which is much less expensive than SoundForge. (I am working with Vegas 8.1)

I’ve used Goldwave since 2004. I Love the versatility of the program. I thought I was one of the few people who knew about it since no one ever mentioned it. I figured it was because it was more of “entry level” program, but have since come to appreciate all it’s features. Especially the noise reduction (where you can isolate noise and copy it to the clipboard and then use the clipboard print to eliminate noise throughout the entire clip. Very Nice!!
When I built my new machine and installed vegas 10 64bit, I left Goldwave behind. I’ve been getting better at the audio capabilities of vegas 10, but do miss the ease and simplicity of goldwave for noise reduction etc. I’m actually looking at Izotpe RX2 to fill that need. It’s a little pricey, but I’ve heard it a top notch program for this kind of work.

BIAS Sound Soap 2 also does a nice job. It’s not as good as iZotope RX2 but it’s not as expensive either. It will take a signature of the noise and remove it and plugs right into Vegas Pro.

Izotope is awesome but takes a TON of time to process (but sound quality is through the roof!!) Waves X-Noise does a great job as well…but can be a little pricey…

Waves pluggins are 32 bit and don’t run on 64 bit programs I believe.
I tried to load waves Mercury Bundle on Win 7 64 bit and use with Sonar 64 bit and they didn’t work. -
My version 7 works in 64 bit…I had to have it look for the waveshell under my VST plugins folder (in my Cubase folder under program files x86) and they work! I have one issue with r-channel in Vegas but they work otherwise…..good luck!

In this case yes, but I am using Vegas 10d 64bit with waves….

I like the fact that it is a “plug-in” for Vegas (at that price point). DO you know if it will Run on 64bit/Windows 7? I didn’t see that in any of the specs I saw online…..

If you are talking about Waves…I am running it on Windows 64 bit Ultimate…
