It has to be on one of the tracks. Mute one track at a time until it dissappears,then click on track motion for that track and resize and position it to fit the smaller event.

The Shuttle won’t work with a Macbook Pro, but doesn’t you Macbook have a HDMI or VGA you can connect to your HDTV as a second monitor? You can drag your preview window to your second monitor.

You haven’t said what your computer specs are yet. By the way, you will love that camera. I have one as well as the 3D HDC-SDT750, take the 3D lense off and it’s the same as the TM700 but you need a flash card, no internal memory. I shoot 1080 60p and can edit even with a fast dual core laptop if I had to, but It doesn’t freeze and lock up the program. You can get .mts and .m2ts files from your camera, depending weather you use the included software to get the video, or connected the cam with USB and saw it like a drive, and get the files off that way. I would try the otherway than your doing and see if it helps. Are your video very long? Very large files can cause this problem with slower computers.

MP4 can be as good quality as .WMV or better, but I render to .wmv without these problems. You may be rendering to a higher quality than your computer can’t playback smoothly. What are your computer specs and the .wmv render settings?

There’s alot that went into this video to explain. Read up in the help file on event pan and crop, track motion and keyframing to start with. I use Team Viewer to show people how to do things sometimes. There’s a free version you can install, allowing me to run and see your computer from mine. In the track header of the video track you want to do this with, Click the “Compositing Mode” button (Little green square with an a in it) and select 3D Source Alpha. Now when you click Track motion on that track, you will be able to orient it in 3D instead of just 2D. Set the orientation,X to a negative number and it will make the top not as wide as the bottom. You would only neeed to use the event pan and crop to crop or change the aspect ratio to fit in the TV screen, then use Track motion to resize, position and 3d orient it to fill the TV screen Hope this helps, Danny Hays

[NTSC TV’s expect 29.97fps. PAL TV’s expect 25 fps. That’s all they can play] John, your not saying 1080p HDTVs can’t play 1080p60 are you? If I render a 1080 30p video and a 1080 60p and play them back to back, With some fast moving video, I can clearly see it stepping through each frame with the 30p but with the 60p I can’t. If you know someone with a TM700, connect it to a 1080 60p HDTV and you will clearly see the smoothness compaired to 30p.
You can use a TM700 as a playback device for your edited video if you use the HDWriter software to edit and render back to .m2ts and put back on a flash card. I haven’t found a way to use Vegas to edit and get a TM700 to play it back. There is no way to render to .mts or .m2ts with audio that I can find.
I think the difference is just the header between .mts (Taken from the flash card of a TM700 or .m2ts (Retrieved with the included software HDWriter. Either way the file size is exactly the same. -
You can change the .vob files ext to .mpg and edit them in vegas without converting. Also look up no recrompression renders for long GOP files that are just cut and paste, no effects,
and same same format, then you should see “no recompression required” in the preview window while it’s rendering, way faster and no quality loss. Hope this helps, Danny Hays -
A fast computer,I have two i7s and both can playback the 1080p60 .mts files from my tm700 smoothly in media player and edit them in Vegas to 1080p60 mp4 or .wmv files. You need to make custom project and render presets to work with the 60 fps. depending on the bitrate you use will deterine what computers will play them back at 60p. 1080p60 ins’t a supported bluray format but some have found some players that play them. What kind of camera are you using?

I didn’t know there was a setting to mute all video,or audio in options. That’s why this forum is here. We both learned something. Glad you figured it out. There must be a keyboard shortcut for “mute all video” for that to have happened.
