usb 3.0 express/34 adapaters don’t have the needed bandwidth to support the Shuttle. I’ve tried it on two laptops with the same results.

I have the Shuttle and tried the Desktop 8.5 but had several problems as well. I was unable to name the file before capturing with Media Express 3.0 and upon launching Media Express to capture as MJPEG, it said incompatible format for my hardware and I had to select it as well as my render drive, everytime I opened Media Express. I went back to 8.0

I have a TM700, I gather that’s what you meant. I capture at 1080 60p and edit on an i7 laptop and it works fine. I still have a Sony HVR-A1 HDV camera but won’t use it as an HDV camera after using the TM700. I will use it when capturing live without a tape and capturing with a BlackMagic Intensity Shuttle via component as Motion JPEG. I bypass the HDV compression this way. Heres a video of a Sony Viao laptop i7 playing a 1080 60p video with Vegas Pro 10. You may need Pro 10 to get these results though, as it’s better with AVCHD.

You can also right click in the audio tracks headers where it says Vol: and select Add/Remove envelopes and select volume.

I would still capture at 50p and downconvert. I capture 1080 60p with a Panasonic TM700 and the picture is absolutly stunning. John and Mike are right though. If you want the DVD to play on any DVD player your limited to 720 x 480 60i. You can render a MP4 at 1080 50p and put it on a DVD and a fast computer can play it. I won’t make regular DVDs anymore after I’ve seen the 1080 60p. Capturing at 1080 50p and downconverting will let you later, make HD videos at 50p.

Probably because your rendering at a very high bitrate and sample rate. I’m suprized your, or any computer can play that at all. I would try the best Sony AVC mp4 with 20mbps and 48k sample rate. If that’s not good enough quality, use the Main Concept AVC where you can raise the bitrate higher than 20mbps. What’s the bitrate of your original footage? No use setting it higher than that. You can’t hear the difference between 48k and 96k samplerate. 96k and 192k are used for multitrack audio mixing mainly.

Don’t know about the Extreme but the Shuttle won’t work on a macbook pro. I use the shuttle and the HDMI out is comparible to direct, and there is no visual latency.

I would leave the aspect ratio the same and use event pan and crop to crop out the mic stand. Then use track motion to resize and position if needed. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

Your welcome Lonnie. Sometimes I set my preferences to Progressive, field order to interpolate, if the video isn’t too fast, it looks even clearer than blend. But if the video is fast moving, it can look jittery. Also, welcome to the CreativeCow forums.

If you haven’t bought the MB yet, get the Asus P6X58D Premium and buy the Intensity Shuttle instead of the card. It has more supported resolutions and is the same price. I use one at home and at work with this MB and both work great.
